This authoritative book, highly regarded for its intellectual quality and contributions provides a solid foundation and life-long reference for anyone studying the most important methods of modern signal and system analysis. The major changes of the revision are reorganization of chapter material and the addition of a much wider range of difficulties.

Sort order. Apr 02, Arthur dos Santos rated it really liked it Shelves: Well, it's not as embracing in terms of theory as some other books on the same subject, but its text is very concise, and at least I couldn't find any errors on any of the examples, so I would say that you can take every word of this book very seriously. There's also a series of videos recorded in a professional studio, where the author gives lectures about the contents of the book's chapters that you can find easily on youtube.

It's not the best book you'll find, but it's definatly worth trying Well, it's not as embracing in terms of theory as some other books on the same subject, but its text is very concise, and at least I couldn't find any errors on any of the examples, so I would say that you can take every word of this book very seriously.

Recommended for the undergraduate students. Apr 03, Thabet rated it did not like it. I was perplexed with problems at the end of the chapter not ever addressed in the text.

Feb 05, Karam Dali rated it it was amazing. The book will give you the complete view of the different concepts and will connect them well, when you finish reading you will get the full understanding by practical examples in communication systems or control systems , and I really liked how he explained the root locus method.

Oct 14, Orso rated it it was amazing. A very nice book for those who need to study signals and systems from scratch, for engineering courses. Very clear explanations and many exercises will help you understand the power of this topic in the modern technologic era.

Mar 01, Qi Cai rated it it was amazing. Top 1 recommended book for beginners as well as engineers. Oct 07, Harsha Vardhan Tetali rated it it was amazing.

One of the best books to start a career in Signal Processing. Simple explanations with the intuitions a beginner needs. Aug 15, Sahith Samala rated it it was ok. Dec 04, Ahkam Mohammed rated it liked it. Sep 10, za rated it did not like it.

Wah buku ini dipakai di kuliah Sinyal dan Sistem. Sang dosen hanya masuk di pertemuan pertama dan ke-n ketujuh mungkin? However, improvements can be made. Second, the exercises are not very accessible. There's too many of them, and if you are learning the material independently, it's really hard to choose which ones you should solve. One person found this helpful. Paperback Verified download. Feels very difficult to learn as an Electrical Engineering student.

As a total nerd who also minored in mathematics, I found that studying Fourier Transforms within the topic of Mathematics did a better job of explaining the techniques found in here. But definitely don't pay for a hardcover of this. The paperback is identical. This book is a classic, its easy to read and yet quite technical. I bought the international edition and it is a great download considering that it is almost exactly the same as the standard one some end of chapter problems are different but at a fraction of the price.

If you couple this book with the lecture videos of Oppenheim himself, then you are going to learn a lot about signals and systems, highly recommended!

Not a fan of Oppenheim's writing style, but the book contains everything you need to understand signals and systems. Read with care as there is little notice in the form of bold letters, etc. A lot of info contained in the worked examples.

If you skip them you'll miss a lot of the book's content.

Beware Oppenheim sources his examples from a variety of sciences. Don't get intimidated - you don't actually need to understand what's going on besides the math.

I bought this book for learning some This is very a great book. I bought this book for learning some basic idea in the relative fields, because I want to prepare for PhD degree in discrete time signal processing. I read this book to learn some fundamental things. This book can be treated as a first book in learning Signals and systems, and other courses such as discrete time signal processing, contral systems and communication systems are based on the material taught in this book.

In this book, the author not only introduce the continuous time signal, but also its discrete counterpart in great detail. The organization of this book is also really great.

Signals and Systems, 2nd Edition

But I read chapter 9 and 10 right after finfsh reading the first 6 chapters, because I think it is better to know all the theory first.

Then, it would be easier to understand its applications. Also, It is really easy to understand the meaning even for a student whose monther tongue is not English like me! In this book, the author give us a brief introduction to several of its applications including sample, communication systems and feedback systems. I used this book for one of my undergrad classes. The actual subject matter is pretty middle of the road, half the people i know liked, the other half didn't. The book does a good job of presenting the concepts in a clear and logical manner and is pretty easy to follow.

I would recommend it to anyone who wishs to learn more about signal processing as it was essential for me to learn the material in class, as well as providing me with a good reference for use later in my undergrad career.

See a Problem?

Heavy in math notation, but if you are taking a signals class then you can probably already read math very well. Explanations and proofs are very easy to follow. This is my least favorite book on the subject of signals and systems. The book is very wordy, and often explains things in overly simple terms, then presents extremely difficult problem sets as accompaniment. The section on convolution a very simple concept, really made my head spin.
